Taguabella
Taguabella crafts its jewellery from the tagua nut, a natural seed of the ivory-nut palm tree. This tree grows sustainably and naturally in the Columbian rainforest. Use of this beautiful natural product (often known as vegetable ivory) stimulates the economies of South America, provides an alternative to cutting down rainforest for farming, and helps prevent animals from being killed for their ivory.
It also helps to prevent logging as it offers a genuine source of employment and vital funds to local communities in Bogotá. The seeds are dried, sliced and dyed before being crafted into these beautiful jewellery pieces.
