Kazuri Jewellery

Kazuri fair trade beaded jewellery is handmade in Kenya. Set up in 1975 with the aim of providing vital work to single mothers in an area just outside Nairobi, Kazuri now employs over 300 local women, offering them a genuine chance to improve their lives. Each bead is shaped by hand before it goes through a process of kiln firing and glazing before being strung. This handmade ceramic jewellery from Kenya is truly exquisite and really conveys the personal soul of African hope.

The jewellery made by Kazuri, which means small and beautiful in Swahili, stands out as something distinct in an era of mass-produced goods. Every piece is handmade and therefore unique, often taking on the marques of the individual who shaped, painted or strung the beads, giving Kazuri jewellery character as well as beauty.
