About This Fair Earth
This Fair Earth was established to reflect both beauty and equality throughout the world. We want to bring you beautiful, unusual and high-quality products which do not contribute to the degradation of our planet and help people to earn a fair wage for their work.
To this end, we offer products from around the world which have been handcrafted by artisans who make a proper, sustainable living from their work.
We are also very keen to support local producers and manufacturers in the United Kingdom who are crafting their products with care in this country. These people are not mass-producing items abroad in exploitative factories but using British skills and craftspeople to produce highly desirable products not widely available on the high street.
Our Principles
We carefully assess all of our suppliers to ensure they are working within the ethical boundaries we have set. We do not claim to be a “fair trade” retailer, because this label does not always apply, particularly with regard to our UK suppliers. However, we will not deviate from the following principles:
No exploitation of labour – we will only work with suppliers who treat their workers with respect, pay them fairly, and do not put them under unreasonable demands in terms of deadlines.
No use of untraceable materials – we ensure our suppliers can trace their raw materials to sustainable sources which do not have a negative environmental or social impact.
No unnecessary environmental damage – we accept that everything has some kind of impact on the environment, but we believe this should be minimised by eliminating harmful chemicals and banning use of scarce resources. We strongly advocate the use of recycled and recycleable materials and, just as importantly, reusing all materials wherever possible.
We have provided information about our suppliers alongside all of our products so you know what you are getting, where it comes from, who makes it and what impact your choice is having. However, we would love to hear from you if you would like to know more about any of our suppliers or our ethical policy by email to Greg.
