The desperate need for economic growth to restore confidence and jobs to the UK is hotly debated. Do we need a more flexible approach from government to encourage those sectors struggling to drag themselves out of recession? Will less government mean more private enterprise?
While these issues continue to concern politicians, it's perhaps worth returning to a notion we've discussed on the blog before - what if we are better off not growing? The strain on the environment in particular is enormous. A consumer-driven economy relies on using and throwing away items at will. With resources, particularly oil, looking increasingly scarce, it seems as if endless growth is not only unsustainable, it's undesirable.

We at This Fair Earth feel that our use of natural and recycled materials, including leather offcuts and recycled fabrics, makes for much more sustainable (and beautiful) products, but maybe even we need to go further to ensure our sustainability in the future.
